Our Place has some of the prettiest cookware on the market—just peep their social media-breaking Always Pan. Now, the brand that brought us charming cookware is offering a twist on its best-selling appliance. That’s right, the pretty and playful Wonder Oven is back. But this time, it has a rather large upgrade.

Enter: Our Place’s Large Wonder Oven. This air fryer toaster oven offers the same 6-in-1 functionality as its smaller sibling but with nearly double the cooking space.

What is the Our Place Large Wonder Oven?

Our Place Large Wonder Oven

With nearly double the space of your run-of-the-mill toaster oven, the larger version of the original oven offers lots of room for braising, baking and steaming.

When the company released the Wonder Oven in late 2023, it seemed like the end-all-be-all for those obsessed with fun yet functional appliances. With a built-in air fryer, toaster oven and steam cooker, the original oven impressed our expert Product Testing Team, who playfully referred to it as an “adult Easy Bake Oven.” After trying both versions myself, I can’t talk up this kitchen sidekick enough.

Like the original oven, the Large Wonder Oven offers 6-in-1 functionality. It’s effectively an air fryer, toaster, oven and steam cooker all rolled into a single countertop unit. And because it’s crafted with non-toxic stainless steel and glass—no Teflon in sight—it’s a healthy, toxic-free option for all families.

"I love the easy user interface and the fact that you can actually hear this machine working, the ticker counts down and the retro done bell is charming."
Sheri Kaz
product tester

While the features remain largely the same, this newer version of the all-in-one cooker boasts a few upgrades. The larger oven debuts a third cooking rack and has double the capacity of a standard air fryer. Compared to the original oven’s 13-quart capacity, the newer oven sports a 16.7-inch width, 13.25-inch depth and 13-inch height, offering a total capacity of 32 quarts. Hello, roast chicken dinners!

You also have the option to add on Our Place’s Baker’s Kit, a trio of nonstick ceramic pans that includes a square pan, a round pan and a muffin tin. The set works with both Wonder Oven sizes. There’s also a new, larger version of the Essentials Kit, which comes with an additional large air fryer basket and large bake pan to match the jumbo-sized oven.

Don’t worry about how it matches your other Our Place gear, either. Like the original oven, the Large Wonder Oven is available in Char, Steam, Blue Salt and Spice.

How We Tested the Our Place Wonder Oven

Our Product Testing Team tested the most popular and best-rated air fryer toaster ovens on the market, including the original Our Place Wonder Oven. I’ve also personally used both the original and larger oven in my home kitchen. We also spoke to Henri Creech, Consumer Scientist at BSH, the home appliances division of the Bosch Group, to get his perspective on a few important features for any air fryer toaster oven.

"Customers should ask themselves the following questions: Does the oven come with a dedicated air fry basket/accessory? Does the oven provide cooking instructions?"
Henri Creech
Consumer Scientist at BSH

In total, our team tested 10 air fryer toaster ovens and performed roughly 10 tests on each. They also spent a collective 80 hours researching, sourcing, intaking and testing the products. Overall, the team collected roughly 375 data points, which makes the original Wonder Oven’s inclusion as the “best compact” option even more impressive.

"The brave little toaster! Don't discount this high-performing appliance just because looks like it could've been in your toy box in the '90s. It really kept up with its heftier competitors."

Tests included browning capabilities on toast, evaluating air-fried French fries for crispiness and baking a boxed yellow sheet cake.

Toast

To test the oven’s toasting capabilities, we put the rack on the top rung and loaded it with four slices of bread. Then, we turned the function dial to “toast,” which indicates that the temperature dial is supposed to be set to 450 degrees, which we did. Then, we turned the timer dial to 10 minutes—there’s nothing printed on the appliance about toast levels or darkness/shade levels, so we guessed at the time. Ultimately, we pulled the toast after about five minutes because it seemed done.

The toast actually probably could’ve been pulled a little sooner, but due to the lack of direction regarding shade/darkness levels, the user would have to experiment a fair amount. We’d suggest around four minutes for a truly medium toast. The tops of each slice were a super even nice brown, but the undersides show a fair amount of charring (though the charring is even). This has produced the most even toast of all the machines air fryer toaster ovens we tested—we just wish we’d pulled them from the oven sooner.

French Fries

Our Place didn’t have specific instructions for cook times, so we followed the instructions on the French fry package. First, we turned the function dial to air fry, then we turned the temperature dial to 360 degrees and the timer to 12 minutes. For this test, we didn’t try any preheating.

We placed about 10 ounces of fries in a single layer with minimal overlapping, then sprayed them with oil. We shook them after six minutes. At six minutes, they were super underdone, so we cooked them for an additional six minutes.

Admittedly, the oven disappointed a bit on this test. The fries were pale with no crisp or crunch, even after 18 minutes and sprayed with oil. While we could probably just stick them in the air fryer toaster oven for longer, we do think that the Wonder Oven should be able to cook fries in under 20 minutes. That said, we did have some success later on trying a higher heat setting. It seems the sweet spot is around 450 degrees.

Roasted Chicken

Our expert testing team also roasted a whole chicken in each oven on the roast setting (or according to the manual’s guidelines). They evaluated the chicken’s fit within the appliance and the final results of the cooked chicken. They also paid attention to juiciness, crispiness of skin and other factors. Additionally, testers disassembled and cleaned the ovens according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

For the chicken test, we loosely followed the instructions for “Whole Roasted Chicken” in the provided recipe booklet. We chose a 4.03-pound chicken for this test, placed it on the baking pan, then slid the baking pan on the lower rung. Then, we cooked the chicken at 325 degrees on roast mode for 20 minutes, 350 degrees on roast mode for 10 minutes, then 375 degrees on bake mode for about 40 minutes. (It took 5-10 minutes longer than the recipe stated—we added a bit of time after temping below the 165-degree mark.)

Before all this, we did have a tough time with preheating. You’re supposed to adjust the oven settings accordingly, then turn on the timer for 2.5 minutes. This wasn’t really working, and the oven kept prematurely shutting off, probably due to the low timer setting. The oven was warm when we added the chicken but probably not the full 325 degrees. Also, we rotated the pan halfway through for a more even brown/cook.

The chicken came out nice and golden but not at all succulent. The seasonings on top became a bit blackened, and the skin felt crispy to the touch. There was also quite a bit of fat in the base of the pan, and Sheri wondered why the recipe didn’t call to baste the chicken. That probably would’ve helped with the dry appearance.

Internal temps hovered right around 165 degrees as we pulled it out. The interior of this was quite juicy, and there was decent browning, but the skin, by the time we ate it, wasn’t overly crisp. We think this oven performed quite well on this test. Although it’s not the winner, we’d still be proud to serve this chicken to guests.

Long Term Update

I’ve had my large Wonder Oven for about four months, and it still performs as well as it did on day one. While I wasn’t expecting it to replace my traditional oven, in a lot of ways it really did. I use it for frozen foods, toast, reheating leftovers and really anytime that I don’t feel like firing up my gas oven. I’m especially excited to use it during the holidays as an extra oven for sides.

While I had previously owned and used the smaller version, it actually failed about a month after I received it. That was super disappointing, but Our Place’s warranty does cover faulty manufacturing. That said, I’ve had no issues with the larger version, and I use it every day—sometimes even twice a day!

Pros

  • Cute look and colors
  • Easy to use
  • Manual dials
  • Nice, loud bell signal
  • High-quality, replaceable accessories

Cons

  • Shelves aren’t secure when pulled out

Wonder Oven vs. Breville Smart Oven

While the Wonder Oven and Breville’s Smart Oven share a lot of the same features, there are notable differences. Probably the biggest difference is the price. While the Wonder Oven sits at a mid price point for an all-in-one oven—around $225—the Breville oven boasts a nearly $400 price tag. This is due in part to Breville’s incredibly quality and warranty. The Breville Oven offers a few features the Wonder Oven does not—namely, an easy-to-navigate LCD screen with built-in presets, automatic preheating and a heavy-duty build.

That said, the Wonder Oven is definitely more charming, and we adore the retro look and rotary dials. They may not be high-tech, but they’re certainly eye-catching! After testing both, we think the Breville option is a worthy splurge, though the Wonder Oven is still a great pick for those on a budget.

Final Verdict

The Our Place Wonder Oven passed most of our tests with flying colors, with our only critique being its rather small size. According to long-term tester and Taste of Home culinary assistant Maggie Knoebel, “It’s very small, which I love for the counter space, but I’m not sure I like it for cooking because I can’t do a lot at one time. Definitely a win for solo eaters, but if you’re feeding a family, turn on the oven.”

Compared to the original version’s 11.6-inch height, 10.6-inch depth and 11.5-inch width, the Our Place Large Wonder Oven solves this issue with nearly double the space as its predecessor. If you’re seeking an all-in-one oven at a fair price point that looks absolutely whimsical on your counter, the large Wonder Oven is the perfect pick.

Is the Wonder Oven non toxic?

Yes! Much like Our Place’s ceramic cookware, the Wonder Oven doesn’t use toxins like PFAS in their manufacturing.

How to clean the Wonder Oven?

Cleaning the Wonder Oven is actually quite simple. The bottom of the appliance offers a handy pull-out crumb tray that’s easily scrubbed clean with mild dish soap and a brush. Once a week, I also wipe down the interior with diluted dish soap, then follow with another swipe with a damp cloth.
