When Shakespeare pondered, “Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day? Thou art more lovely and more temperate,” I think he was talking about Aldi. I would take it one step further to say that he was talking about a specific Aldi product that I have started buying in twos so that I never run out.

What is this magical Aldi product?

Of course, I’m talking about Berryhill Hot Honey. Blink and you’ll miss it: This product is nestled among the super market chain’s other condiments, including the regular honey in its cute bear-shaped packaging. It retails at my local Aldi for $4.95, and I buy it every time I see it because I’m afraid that it’s going to disappear and never come back.

The balance of this hot honey is perfect. It’s not too sweet, has a strong kick of heat and is overall satisfying and flavorful. I have two ways that I like to use it: One is drizzled over pizza right after I take it out of the oven (I like putting extra on the crust and letting it caramelize a bit), and the other is on avocado toast. I know, I know, you can thank me later. But aside from being a finishing touch on a dish or snack, hot honey adds great flavor to everything from wings to salad dressings.

How long will the hot honey be available?

Here’s the thing: I have no idea how long this magical product will be available. You know how Aldi finds come and go! My local Aldi has it in a box that says “Seasonal,” so I’m nervous that it won’t be a year-round staple. But I’m not convinced that winter is the only season when people want to enjoy hot honey, so maybe Aldi will keep it around longer. Either way, the next time you’re at Aldi, grab one. Or three.
