Cacao powder hot chocolate is warm, comforting and intensely chocolatey. With antioxidant-rich cacao powder and your choice of honey or maple syrup, it's a health-conscious alternative to traditional cocoa recipes.

Ingredients

  • 1-1/2 cups 2% milk
  • 2 tablespoons raw cacao powder
  • 3 tablespoons maple syrup or honey
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Miniature marshmallows, optional

Directions

  1. In a small saucepan, heat milk and cacao powder over medium heat just until mixture comes to a simmer, stirring constantly. Remove from heat; stir in honey or maple syrup and vanilla extract until smooth. Pour into 2 mugs. If desired, garnish with marshmallows.
