Burger King onion rings are satisfying in a way that french fries can’t be—it’s the texture. The crunch and flavor lift your brain to some sort of euphoria! Ingredients
- 1 large onion
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 teaspoon seasoned salt
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 2 cups panko bread crumbs
- Oil for deep-fat frying
Directions
- Cut onion into 1/4-in. slices; separate into rings. In a shallow bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt and seasoned salt. In another shallow bowl, whisk egg and milk. Place bread crumbs in a third shallow bowl. Coat onion rings with flour mixture; dip into egg mixture, then dip into flour mixture and egg mixture again. Coat with bread crumbs, pressing to adhere.
- In an electric skillet or deep fryer, heat oil to 375°. Fry onion rings, a few at a time, for 30 seconds on each side or until golden brown. Drain on paper towels. Sprinkle with additional seasoned salt.
